MATCH SIGNALS · EXPLAINED

See what gives you a reason to connect.

A useful introduction has a reason behind it. Aspair brings your stated skills, startup interests and working expectations into view so you can decide what to explore with another person.

First, choose the space and the people you want to explore

Co-founders and Dating have separate profiles, discovery, connections and conversations. In Co-founders, members describe their skills, the contribution they need, startup sectors and specialisms, stage, commitment and location. The LinkedIn shortcut opens the professional profile link the member supplied.

Discover supports keyword, city, sector, specialism and commitment filters. Shared startup sectors and specialisms help order founder discovery. The swipe view uses eligible discovery results and excludes profiles already acted on; Discover can revisit people you have seen. Filters can produce no results in an early community, so try broadening one at a time.

Match signals explain the details you both shared

  • A skill for a stated need: a comma-separated skill you are looking for matches a skill the other person explicitly listed.
  • A reciprocal contribution: a skill they need matches one you listed.
  • Shared startup interests: both profiles list the same sector, or the same specialism within that sector.
  • A shared location: both list the same city and country.
  • Time to discuss: the panel shows whether stated commitments agree or differ, without deciding whether the difference is acceptable.

The panel appears on founder swipe cards and in the full founder profile. It compares text labels case-insensitively. It does not infer expertise from a biography, read LinkedIn, verify a claim or assign a compatibility percentage. Different skill wording may not produce a signal even when a conversation could be useful.

These are explainable rules, not generative AI or a prediction of business success. They do not change access permissions or replace the app's existing discovery order. No member profile is sent to an AI provider for this feature.

No score. No promise of compatibility. Use the details to start a conversation.

    You still make the decision

Read the full profile, use the LinkedIn link if it helps and send a request when there is a specific reason to connect. Chat opens after a mutual connection. A shared skill does not oblige anyone to accept a request.

Existing connections keep their identity when an approved profile is edited. The last approved introduction remains available while a revision is reviewed. Blocking, suspension and moderation still apply. Profiles and conversations stay private; the public website does not publish the member directory for search engines.

Move from shared interests to shared work

Use the conversation guide to discuss what each person can own. Compare practical expectations in the fit worksheet, then agree a small working trial. The strongest next step is evidence you can evaluate together, not a high match score.
